Middle school
and high school students of St. Francis on the Hill have a
wonderfully robust, vital, fun, Christ-centered, biblical
program that speaks to issues facing them today. The integrated
youth program consists of the following:
YOUTH GROUP -
Every Wednesday night from 6-7:45 PM the youth (and their
friends) congregate in the portable for dinner, games, and
topical Bible Study. The middle school meets separately from
the high school students for the Bible study. The Youth Group
periodically has lock-ins and other special events.
SUNDAY MORNING
BIBLE STUDY -
Each Sunday
morning, we have breakfast in Myrick Hall at 9:00 AM and then at
9:30 go to the youth portable for study of the Scripture. (We
study the bible readings for the worship service that day).
Students either worship at the 8:00 AM service or the 10:30 AM
service.
MISSION SERVICE
-
We are mission minded, and have opportunities for students to
live out the Gospel through service to others. We volunteer at
the Rescue Mission, sponsor a child through Compassion Int.,
visit with the elderly at Monte Vista Care Facility, etx.
SUMMER CAMP -
We go together to a high adventure, Bible camp in Estes Park,
Colorado in the Summer (Ravencrest). In addition, students can
attend the Diocesan Summer Camp outside of Santa Fe, NM: Camp
Stoney (Junior and Senior High Adventure Camps).
FUND RAISERS -
We raise funds with special events for summer camp.
DISCIPLESHIP
PROGRAM -
For our youth who sense a calling to be leaders, we are
beginning a special program for developing leadership skills.
Our Church
facility has a special room in, "The Portable," building
dedicated to the youth. It was painted by the youth, contains a
pool table, foosball table, refrigerator, ping pong, and
comfortable seating for our Bible studies. This is the place
for youth to call their own.
We have a
vibrant, well-trained, prayerful team of six Youth Leaders
(Dave, David, Nikki, Randal, Teresa, and Deacon Mary). This
team of individuals dedicated to sharing the Good News of Jesus
with teens and preteens ensures chaperoning/safety in youth
events, as well as leads Bible studies and recreation.
In addition to
the Youth Program, students have additional opportunities to be
involved in the Parish is a variety of ministries:
Acolytes -
serving at the altar on Sunday mornings
Lay Reader -
reading the Old Testament scripture during worship
Visiting the
Elderly
Choir and Bell
Choir - sing and play during the 10:30 service
Confirmation
class is held every year, with special classes for youth beginning several months before the Bishop's
annual visit for Confirmation. Confirmation is for any middle
school or high school student who is ready to make an adult
profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
